Work on Minalittas Road module continue with addition of gravel layer on location of gas station and repair shop and ground cover on right side of module.
First, the foundation for objects (and pump islands) is being made from 2mm foam board and glued to its positions. After that, light gray fine sand is glued down using white glue/water mixture (after it was saturated with alcohol). Paper building in photo bellow is repair shop mock-up used just for getting the dimensions and overall size correct. The concept of paper mockups will be described in one of the future articles.
After the building placement they will be tied to the landscape with additional ground foam around the foundation to hide the seam between the building and ground cover. In some cases, it might be easier to first place the building and then do the ground cover. In this particular case, building weren’t finished and we wanted to do as much ground cover as possible and just place the building on the foundation for picture taking purposes.
After gravel has dried, rest of the area is covered with Woodland Scenic fine turf, primarily T43 (Yellow grass) and small amounts of Earth Blend, Burnt Grass and Green Grass.
Some underbrush is added for variety and extra depth. Next, everything will be glued down with white glue/water mixture after soaking it with alcohol.
